On August 11, US time, ON Semiconductor's silicon carbide (SiC) plant in Hudson, New Hampshire was inaugurated.
According to reports, the base will increase ON Semiconductor's SiC wafer production capacity by five times year-on-year by the end of 2022. This expansion gives ON Semiconductor full control over its SiC manufacturing supply chain, from the sourcing of SiC powder and graphite feedstock, to the delivery of packaged SiC devices.
Simon Keeton, executive vice president and general manager of ON Semiconductor's Power Solutions Division, said the company has expanded to a second building in order to achieve growth in substrate capacity and plans to continue to upgrade to make its cutting-edge SiC wafers ready for customer products Used.
ON Semiconductor pointed out that the company is the only large-scale supplier with two-wire end-to-end supply capabilities for SiC and insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) solutions. ON Semiconductor previously announced on its second-quarter earnings call that it committed to $4 billion in SiC revenue over the next three years through long-term supply agreements with a broad customer base. This will triple its SiC revenue in 2022 from last year and achieve over $1 billion in revenue in 2023.
